Happy September! I woke up the other morning legitimately thinking I was back in Seattle. The rain was crazy, but definitely refreshing. I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! Our fall schedule is coming along nicely, check it out!
This week in {fumc} youth:
Sunday School: The youth group is now meeting at our new regular time (9:00-10:30 am). Please join us in the coming weeks for an ongoing discussion about Christian community. Our lessons will be based on Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s book, Life Together. Today we will be talking about "The Day Alone." Come on down!
UMYF: We are now meeting at our regular scheduled time on Sunday nights (6:00-8:00 pm). UMYF is open to all students between 7th and 12th grade. Join us this week to hear more about Sam's life story and how God has worked in his life.
Additional Announcements:
One-On-Ones: If any students would like to have a one-on-one meeting with me, there are now sign up sheets hanging both on my office door and in the youth basement. We can go out to lunch, grab coffee, get froyo, throw a frisbee, or do something goofy. I will be contacting students in the order that they sign up!

Lost And Found: If you think you may have lost something during the mission trip, check out the lost and found album on our facebook page. If you don’t have facebook, feel free to give Sam a call or shoot him an email describing your missing item. This will be the last week to claim an item before it will be donated or given away.
Leaders: The youth ministry is in need of an adult leadership team for the coming year. Both the Sunday morning class and the Sunday evening group have grown to the point that we need more support. People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to join us! If you think you would like to work with our students, or simply want more information, please call or email Sam Hastings, Director of Youth Ministry, for more information (samhastings@fcfumc.net).
Parent Meeting: On October 2nd we will have a parent meeting in the parlor running parallel to our regular UMYF meeting time. All parents are highly encouraged to join us for an evening presentation about our year ahead. There will be refreshments and snacks provided. More information coming soon.
Fall Retreat: We will have a Fall Retreat October 14-16, 2011. This retreat will take place at Buckhorn United Methodist Camp. More information coming VERY soon!
Opportunities to Volunteer:
- We have two blank bulletin boards downstairs that DESPERATELY need decorating. I would love to have a group of students decorate one with pictures from our mission trip. Please let me know if you are interested in helping! We will work on the other bulletin board during youth group this week.
