{fumc} youth: Weekly Update 9/4

Dear Friends,

I hope all of you have had an amazing week so far! We had a great time last Sunday dreaming about our future together and brainstorming our covenant. I also wanted to let you all know that there is now a couch in my office. Come by to visit and have a Coke anytime!

This week in {fumc} youth:

Sunday School & Family Worship: This Sunday parents and students are invited to meet at 9:00 am in the high school room downstairs to prepare for family worship. Following the 9:15 service, we will meet by the front pews for half an hour to discuss the service and why worshipping as a community is so significant. Please join us as we engage our community!

UMYF: We are now meeting at our regular scheduled time on Sunday nights (6:00-8:00 pm). UMYF is open to all students between 7th and 12th grade. Despite the Labor day holiday, we will have youth group for those who are in town. This will be a family game night for any parents and student interested in joining us! Come check it out!

Youth Council: Youth Council will have a meeting this Sunday, September 4th from 4:30 – 5:30. This will simply be an initial meeting to discuss the past, present, and future of Youth Council. We will be meeting in the Middle School room.

Additional Announcements:

Lost And Found: If you think you may have lost something during the mission trip, check out the lost and found album on our facebook page. If you don’t have facebook, feel free to give Sam a call or shoot him an email describing your missing item.

Leaders: The youth ministry is in need of an adult leadership team for the coming year. Both the Sunday morning class and the Sunday evening group have grown to the point that we need more support. People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to apply! If you think you would like to work with our students, or simply want more information, please call or email Sam Hastings, Director of Youth Ministry (samhastings@fcfumc.net).

Opportunities to Volunteer:

- Senior Council has come to us with a request for service. I will need at least 2-3 student volunteers to help me clean up fallen apples from a front yard next Saturday (Sep. 10th). Please respond to this email to let me know if you will be able to help out!

- There is a box of pictures in my office that I inherited. Because I am new to this community I do not know much about the people or places in these pictures. I am in need of students, sponsors, and parents to join me next Friday night (Sep. 9th) to go through these pictures and sort them. Please respond to this email for more information!

- We have two blank bulletin boards downstairs that DESPERATELY need decorating. I would love to have a group of students decorate one with pictures from our mission trip. Please let me know if you are interested in helping! We will work on the other bulletin board during youth group next week.

Next Week in {fumc} youth:

Sunday School: Next week we will be talking about "The Day Alone." Come on down!

UMYF: Join us next week to hear more about Sam's life story and how God has worked in his life.

As always, if you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns please feel free to call or email me any time. That’s all for now!

Peace.
